As a former member of the Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee, I was taken aback by some of the evidence that was presented to the committee about the plight of ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen, whose post-traumatic stress disorder was often undiagnosed for 10, 15 or even 20 years because of a lack of awareness about the problem among GPs and other clinicians.
