Recent economic indicators in major countries such as US Euro zone and China indicated that the several economies performed better than expected. This situation restored investor confidences about global economic recovery and higher oil consumption in the second half of the year as well as provided incentives for market stimulation which is another driving force for oil price resumption. But oil price remains susceptible to short run fluctuation, providing market speculation, overflow of world economic and financial information, and US dollar volatility.

ในปี 2552 โดยเฉลี่ยจะแข็งค่าขึ้นกว่าในปี 2551 ซึ่งเป็นผลจากนักลงทุนเริ่มเคลื่อนย้ายเงินลงทุนจากภูมิภาคอื่น เช่น ยุโรป และเอเชีย กลับไปยังสหรัฐอเมริกาในภาวะที่มีสัญญาณการฟื้นตัวของเศรษฐกิจสหรัฐฯ ประกอบกับปัญหาในภาคการเงินคลี่คลายมากขึ้น จึงคาดว่าความต้องการเงินดอลลาร์ สรอ. จะเพิ่มขึ้น ซึ่งความต้องการถือเงินดอลลาร์ สรอ. เพิ่มขึ้นจะเป็นการทดแทนความต้องการซื้อ long position ของน้ํามันดิบและสินค้าโภคภัณฑ์ประเภทอื่น ๆ ด้วย จึงช่วยลดแรงกดดนัราคาน้ํามันไม่ให้เพิ่มขึ้นเร็วมากแม้ว่าการฟื้นตัวของเศรษฐกิจโลกที่คาดว่าจะชัดเจนมากขึ้นในครึ่งหลังของปีจะมีอิทธิพลกดดันให้ราคาน้ํามันในครึ่งหลังของปีสูงกว่าในครึ่งแรกของปีอย่างชัดเจนก็ตาม
