Diese Methode beruht darauf, dass die Wärmetönung der Reaktion zwischen Karl-Fischer-Lösung und Wasser stark exotherm ist und im adiabatischen Kalorimeter die Temperaturveränderung unter geeigneten Bedingungen proportional dem Wassergehalt ist.

The method is based on the phenomenon that the heat of reaction between the Karl Fischer reagent and water is great, and that in an adiabatic calorimeter under appropriate conditions the temperature change is proportional to the water content of the samples.
