During this stage the riders will go find the coast at the north side of Ireland, via Antrim and Ballymena and they get on the coast close to Portrush from where they will follow the coast eastwards down to Ballycastle where they'll go a little bit more landinwards, looking for the first climb of this Tour of Italy 2014, Cushendall Road at the exit of Ballypatrick Forest and from there they'll again follow the coast southwards, down to Whitehead where they'll turn west and climb the second difficulty of the day, in Knocknagulliagh.

Tijdens deze etappe zullen de renners richting de kust in Noord-Ierland rijden, via Antrim en Ballymena, en zij komen aan de kust vlakbij Portrush vanwaaraf ze de kustlijn zullen volgen tot aan Ballycastle waar ze wat meer landinwaards gaan, op zoek naar de eerste klim van deze Ronde van ItaliŽ 2014, Cushendall Road bij het uitrijden van Ballypatrick Forest en vandaaruit volgen ze de kustlijn naar het zuiden, tot aan Whitehead waar ze naar het westen afdraaien en de twee klim van de dag zullen beklimmen, in Knocknagulliagh.
