The apparatus comprises: a generator for irradiating an X-ray; a subject supporting unit located to confront the generator; and a compression pad for compressing the subject by moving between the generator and the subject supporting unit, wherein at least one between the subject supporting unit and the compression pad is rotatably installed at one side of the mammography apparatus, and wherein at the initial state of compressing the subject, the at least one that is rotatably installed between the subject supporting unit and the compression pad is configured in such a manner that a front end thereof facing an examinee is elastically biased to a position inclined toward the subject.
