The Diels-Alder products did not show any significant cyto-toxicity. It was found though that the maleinimdes, depending upon their N-substitution, were cyto-toxic, and in the case of N-(4-(Bis-(2-maleinimdes (i.e. MIRA 1 [Bykov et al, 2002b]) can restore the specific DNA-binding properties of p53.
