إن المعلومات التي وفرها الأمين العام، من خلال التقارير المنتظمة التي يقدمها إلى المجلس، تبين أن برنامج النفط مقابل الغذاء ساعد خلال السنوات الأربع الأخيرة، على وقف زيادة تردى الأحوال المعيشية للعراقيين العاديين وأدى إلى تحسن الأحوال المعيشية في بعض الحالات، وأن الطابع الإنساني للبرنامج يجب المحافظة عليه.

Information provided by the Secretary-General through his regular reports to the Council show that over the last four years the oil-for-food programme has helped to halt further deterioration in the living conditions of average Iraqis and has improved living conditions in some cases, and that the programme’s humanitarian nature should be preserved.
