In the course of the summer months of 1996 the EMI, through the intermediary of the EU central banks, consulted the banking and financial community on the highly technical question of rounding in the conversion of amounts expressed in the different denominations of the single currency that will be in use in the transitional period of Stage Three of EMU.

Au cours de l'été 1996, I'IME, par le canal des banques centrales de I ' U n i o n européenne, a consulté la communauté bancaire et financière sur la question éminemment technique des arrondis lors de la conversion de sommes exprimées dans les différentes dénominations de la monnaie unique qui seront en usage pendant la période de transition de la phase III de I'UEM.
