كما تعالج الجماعة الأوروبية مسائل عديدة تتعلق بما يلي: (أ) تحسين فهم حدود النظم الإيكولوجية البحرية وهياكلها ودينامياتها؛ (ب) استجابة هذه النظم الإيكولوجية للأنشطة البشرية، والتركيز بشكل خاص على صيد الأسماك، وكيفية رصد هذه الاستجابة باستخدام المؤشرات الملائمة؛ (ج) دراسة التفاعلات البيولوجية للمجموعات الصغيرة من الأرصدة السمكية والتكهن بالآثار الناجمة عن الصيد عند النظر في هذه التفاعلات

The European Community is addressing several issues with regard to (a) a better understanding of the boundaries, structure and dynamics of marine ecosystems, (b) the response of those ecosystems to human activities, with a special emphasis on fishing, and how that response may be monitored by appropriate indicators and (c) the study of biological interactions of small groups of fish stocks and the forecasting of the effects of fishing when considering such interactions
