It seemed unlikely that the governments of many developing and developed countries would find a satisfactory answer to the problems of ethnic minorities and indigenous peoples when in the country itself powerful domestic interest groups, seeking to obtain something in return for the demands of development, were disadvantaging those sectors of the population and forcing them to abandon their socio-economic markers.

По-видимому, правительствам многих развитых и развивающихся стран нелегко найти удовлетворительное решение тех проблем, которые затрагивают этнические меньшинства и коренное население, если внутри самой страны крупные национальные корпорации, стремясь повернуть императивы развития в свою пользу, оставляют эти группы на обочине и принуждают их расстаться со своими социально-экономическими ориентирами.
