Somit ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass die Orgel auch im sanierten Dom eine wichtige Rolle spielt – nicht nur, weil sie der mit weitem Abstand größte Ausstattungsgegenstand des Doms ist (die Domorgel hat ein Gesamtgewicht von über 20 t und die Hauptorgel allein erreicht schon die Größe eines Einfamilienhauses), sondern auch, weil sie eben »das« Begleitinstrument der katholischen Kirche schlechthin ist.

It is, therefore, not surprising that the organ also plays an important role in the renovated Cathedral – not only because it is by far the largest piece of equipment in the Cathedral (the organ weighs over 20 tonnes and the main organ alone is the size of a small house), but also because it is, quite simply, “the” instrument for musical accompaniment in Catholic churches.
