ورغم أن القطاع الخاص يعمل أساسا وفق اعتبارات التجارة والربح، فإنه يقوم أحيانا كثيرة بدور مبتكِر التكنولوجيات القادرة على تحسين فعالية العمل الإنساني، ولا سيما في مجالات الاتصالات، ونظم الإنذار المبكر، وآليات جمع المعلومات من المستفيدين.
