El 23 de mayo de 1951 la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Obras Públicas ordena el trazado del camino pero instruye que el último tramo, el de Huendío – Tlacotepec no sea realizado: “siendo importante no llevar a cabo la liga en Tlacotepec, en virtud del expresado deseo de no derivar por la vía corta, el paso de los vehículos de la región de Chalcatongo y procurando que tengan como paso obligado, la población de Tlaxiaco.”
