In the summer of 2007 although inflation was over 10% the government led by Aigars Kalvitis of the People's Party (Tautas Partija) (TP) did not heed the warnings of the Bank of Latvia and of the international institutions which were requesting the drafting and implementation of an anti-inflation plan to limit the overheating of the economy.
