HERRADURA, March - A new measure announced by the provincial agricultural authorities provides that all the rice must be harvested by October 21. The measure is designed to combat the twin plagues Steneotarsonemus spinki and Saroclaudio orizae. The new regulation establishes a planting period up to March 31 if dry and April 10 if wet for State farms.

HERRADURA, marzo - A partir del 21 de octubre no podrá haber una mata de arroz por cosechar en la provincia de Pinar del Río. La medida, anunciada por la más alta autoridad en sanidad vegetal, intenta frenar los estragos causados últimamente a la cosecha del cereal en la provincia por el ácaro Steneotarsonemus spinki y el hongo Saroclaudio orizae.
