وتؤكد النتائج الأولى التي توصلت إليها الدراسة الحاجة إلى نظام لحماية حقوق الملكية الفكرية يقوم على أساس الحقوق الجماعية ويعترف بحقوق المجتمعات الأصلية في تراثها العلمي والثقافي والطبيعي ويحمي هذه الحقوق، خلافاً لنظم الملكية الفكرية الموجودة التي تحرمهم من التمتع بهذه المزايا
