Ειδικότερα, το μάθημα παρέχει γνώσεις για τις βασικές έννοιες και τα εργαλεία ανάλυσης της Μαρξιστικής Θεωρίας: φιλοσοφικές βάσεις, μεθοδολογία, κοινωνία, το άτομο και τις προτιμήσεις, εργασιακή θεωρία της αξίας, θεωρία του χρήματος, προσδιορισμός των τιμών, θεωρία κεφαλαίου, πηγή κέρδους, η διανομή της υπεραξίας, συσσώρευση του κεφαλαίου, καπιταλιστικός ανταγωνισμός, σχηματισμός του γενικού ποσοστού κέρδους και των τιμών παραγωγής, αναπαραγωγή του κεφαλαίου (απλή και διευρυμένη) και οι συναφείς συνθήκες ισορροπίας του καπιταλιστικού συστήματος, τεχνολογική μεταβολή και τα αποτελέσματά της ως προς την παραγωγικότητα και την ανεργία, θεωρίες για την πτωτική τάση του ποσοστού κέρδους.

In particular, the course builds knowledge of the basic notions and analytical instruments of Marxian theory: philosophical foundations, methodology, the individual and his/her preferences; the labor theory of value, the theory of money, price determination; the theory of capital, the source of profit, the distribution of surplus value, the accumulation of capital; capitalist competition, the formation of the general rate of profit and prices of production; the reproduction of capital (simple and extended) and the associated conditions for the equilibrium of the capitalistic system; technological change and its impacts on productivity and unemployment; theories of the declining rate of profit.
