Probably the most distinctive landmarks of Perast are the two beautiful islands situated off its seafront: the natural island of St. George, with a Benedictine abbey (9th c.); and Our Lady of the Rock (Gospa od Škrpjela), a man-made island, built by depositing stones and scuttling old ships filled with stones around a small crag (škrpjel).

Vjerojatno su najkarakterističnija obilježja Perasta dva prelijepa otoka koji se nalaze ispred grada, Sv. Juraj s benediktinskom opatijom iz 9. stoljeća nastao prirodnim putem, te Gospa od Škrpjela, umjetni otok nastao nasipavanjem kamenom i potapanjem starih brodova ispunjenih kamenom oko male stijene (škrpjela).
