I'm tempted to go further than that: if anything, our culture is founded on the unspeakable. At its very best, our culture is founded on the lack of the unspeakable and the unspeakability of this lack - perhaps in a sense similar to that of the Viita poem which seems founded on the absence of sense: on that unspeakable it is lacking precisely because so full of (the) unspeakable, in the sense of something that cannot be expressed "in other words" (almost a definition of poetry).
