Having given sanction to Jayalalitha's strikebreaking and indeed encouraged other governments to similarly rob public sector workers of their basic union rights, the Supreme Court panel, in the interests of defusing an explosive situation, counselled the government to reinstate most of the workers if they submitted a humiliating written apology and accepted the contract rollbacks imposed by the government.

ஜெயலலிதா வேலை நிறுத்தத்தை உடைப்பதை அங்கீகரித்துவிட்டு அது இதர அரசாங்கங்களை உண்மையிலேயே ஊக்குவித்து தொழிற்சங்க அடிப்படை உரிமைகளை பறிப்பதாக அமைந்து கொந்தளிப்பான நிலை ஏற்பட்டுவிடும் என்று கருதி அந்த கொந்தளிப்பை தணிக்கும் வகையில் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் வேலை நிறுத்தம் செய்தவர்களில் மிகப்பெரும்பாலோரை அவர்கள் தலைகுனிவான மன்னிப்புக் கடிதம் எழுதிக்கொடுத்து அரசாங்கம் சலுகைகளை ரத்து செய்ததை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டால் மீண்டும் பணியில் அமர்த்த வேண்டும் என்று ஆலோசனை கூறியது.
