Der skal forskes i havundersøgelses-/havobservationsteknologi og i bæredygtig udnyttelse af havets energi- og mineralressourcer, og herunder offshore- og undervandsteknologi, fjernstyrede fartøjer og undervandsakustik, med sigte på en samlet politik for udnyttelsen af havets energi- og mineralressourcer, samtidig med at man søger at forbedre forvaltningen af kystområderne og at minimere indflydelsen på miljøet.

The aim is the development of technologies intended for the study and observation of the seas and the sustainable exploitation of the energy and mineral resources of the sea, including offshore and submarine technologies, unmanned vehicles and submarine acoustics, promoted by a coherent approach to the exploitation of the sea as a source of minerals and energy, improvement of coastal zone management and minimisation of the environmental impact of sea-based activities.

El objetivo será el desarrollo de tecnologías destinadas al estudio y la observación de los mares y la explotación sostenible del mar como fuente de energía y recursos minerales, incluidas las tecnologías off-shore y submarinas, los vehículos teledirigidos y la acústica submarina, en el marco de un enfoque coherente de la explotación del mar como fuente de minerales y de energía, sin perder de vista al mismo tiempo la mejora de la gestión de las costas y la minimización del impacto ambiental de las actividades marinas.
