The topics of this year’s Summer Course are: an introduction to mathematics in financial products and markets, mathematics and sports, playing with group theory, insurance and pensions in the 17th and 18th centuries, pricing of derivatives in the binomial tree model, 'bribe money' to assist in education, social software about the mathematics of human activities, and the mathematical impossibility of democracy.

De onderwerpen van de Vakantiecursus 2009 zijn: introductie in financiële producten en markten, wiskunde en sport, spelen met groepentheorie, verzekeringen en pensioenen in de 17e en 18e eeuw, prijsbepaling van derivaten met het binomiale boom model, 'smeergeld' – geld als hulpmiddel bij onderwijs, 'social software' over de wiskunde bij intermenselijke activiteiten en tot slot de wiskundige onmogelijkheid van de democratie.
