The present invention relates to a method of producing an inducible animal model of stress comprising genetically modifying a non-human vertebrate to express one or more protein(s) that can be activated by light in (a) cell(s) of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, wherein the protein(s) that can be activated by light are capable of inducing the release of (i) corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) and/or arginine-vasopressin (A VP) from neurons in the paraventricular nucleus of the rostral hypothalamus; (ii) adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from corticotroph cells in the anterior pituitary; and/or (iii) glucocorticoids from cells in the adrenal cortex.

La présente invention concerne une méthode permettant de produire un modèle animal inductible de stress, comprenant la modification génétique d'un vertébré non humain pour exprimer une ou plusieurs protéines photoactivables dans (a) une ou des cellules de l'axe hypothalamo-hypophyso-surrénalien, la ou les protéines photoactivables étant capables d'induire la libération (i) d'hormone de libération de la corticotrophine (CRH) et/ou d'arginine-vasopressine (A-VP) à partir de neurones dans le noyau paraventriculaire de l'hypothalamus rostral ; (ii) d'hormone adrénocorticotrope (ACTH) à partir de cellules corticotropes dans l'adénohypophyse ; et/ou (iii) de glucocorticoïdes à partir de cellules du cortex adrénal.
