When FMD was found in the Netherlands, a 72-hour general ban was imposed on the transport of animals, which was then lifted for uninfected areas once the source of infection had been identified (under Commission Decision 2001/223/EC of 21 March 2001, the Netherlands were split up into uninfected areas and infected areas, in which the transport of animals was banned and animal products were subject to special treatment before they were permitted to leave the area).

Après la constatation de la FA aux Pays-Bas, une interdiction générale de tout transport d'animaux pendant 72 heures fut même décrétée, interdiction levée, pour les régions non contaminées, après l'identification de la source d'infection (par la voie de la décision 2001/223/CE de la Commission du 21 mars 2001, le territoire néerlandais fut divisé en régions non contaminées et en régions contaminées dans lesquelles les transports d'animaux étaient interdits et les produits d'origine animale devaient faire l'objet d'un traitement spécial avant de pouvoir en sortir).
