After the usual start in front of the Palais Beaumont in Pau, the profile of this 2nd Pyrenean stage will be completely different: after having visited Lourdes, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and La Barthe-de-Neste, the climbing part starts in Arreau at the foot of the Col d'Aspin (^ 1,490 m, 12 km at 6.5%) and after the descent it goes on to the Col du Tourmalet (^ 2,115 m, 17.1 km at 7.3%) before the final climb towards Cauterets (^ 914 m).
