ويسيطر على هذه العلاقات الظلم الصارخ، الذي تتضمن نتائجه تفاقم حدة الفقر بين أفقر الفقراء؛ ومشكلة الدين الخارجي التي لا حل لها والتي يتكرر ظهورها، والأمراض، والمجاعات، والجهل، والبطالة، وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان وحقوق الطفل، وتفاقم العنف والجريمة، والحرب وكل ما ينتج عنها من أهوال - وبإيجاز المأساة الإنسانية التي أصبحت المعيار التافه للحياة اليومية لجزء كبير من بني البشر في مواجهة اللامبالاة أو الخمول الذي يتسم به جزء آخر منهم.

These relations are dominated by stark injustice, the consequences of which include the exacerbation of poverty among the poorest of the poor; the recurrent and insoluble issue of external debt; disease; famine; ignorance; unemployment; violations of human rights and of the rights of the child; the aggravation of violence and crime; and war and all its resulting horrors — in short, the human tragedy, which has become the banal norm of everyday life for a great portion of mankind in the face of the indifference or inactivity of another part of the same species.

Estas relaciones están dominadas por graves injusticias, cuyas consecuencias incluyen la agudización de la pobreza entre los más pobres, la reiterativa e insoluble cuestión de la deuda externa, la enfermedad, el hambre, la ignorancia, el desempleo, violaciones de derechos humanos y de los derechos del niño, el recrudecimiento de la violencia y del crimen, y la guerra, con toda su estela de horrores; en suma, la tragedia humana, que se ha convertido en norma trivial de la vida cotidiana para una gran parte de la humanidad ante la indiferencia o la pasividad de la otra parte de la misma especie.

Эти отношения характеризуются вопиющей несправедливостью, которая приводит, среди прочего, к обострению нищеты среди беднейших слоев населения, сохранению неразрешимой проблемы задолженности, болезням, голоду, неграмотности, безработице, нарушению прав человека и прав ребенка, все более грубым проявлениям насилия и преступности, а также войнам и всем связанным с ними ужасами — одним словом, к человеческой трагедии, которая стала повседневной нормой жизни для значительного числа людей, сталкивающихся с безразличием или бездействием со стороны других представителей рода человеческого.
