The teching and research activities of the instructors of our department encompass huge segments of these areas: English (or British) history, literature, the history of British fine arts, political thought and film, the change and cultural representation of gender roles, the most diverse elements of English culture understood in its broadest sense (including popular culture), the past and present political system and international role of Britain, the history and culture of the British Empire, the relationship between the European Union and the UK, Scottish literature and film as well as the history of culture of many other English-speaking countries, with special emphasis laid on Ireland, Canada, Australia, the anglophone territories of Africa, and India.

Tanszékünk oktatói az anglisztika körébe tartozó legváltozatosabb tárgyakat kutatják és tanítják: angol történelmet, irodalmat, az angol képzőművészet, politikai gondolkodás és filmművészet történetét, a nemi szerepek történelmi változásait és kulturális megjelenéseit, a legszélesebb értelemben vett angol kultúra legkülönfélébb elemeit, beleértve a populáris irodalmat és kultúrát, Nagy-Britannia múltbéli és jelenlegi politikai berendezkedését és nemzetközi szerepét, az angol gyarmatbirodalom történetét és kultúráját, az Európai Unió és Nagy-Britannia kapcsolatát, skót irodalmat és filmművészetet, illetve az angol nyelvű országok történelmét és kultúráját, külön hangsúlyt fektetve az ír kultúrára, Kanadára, Ausztráliára, Afrika angol nyelvű országaira és Indiára.
