During this time he composed extensively, his works including: an opera on the life of Paul Gauguin, to a libretto by Théophile Briant; it was broadcast in 1948 by Radiodiffusion Française to celebrate the centenary of Gauguin's birth a violin concerto; Ginette Neveu gave its premiere in Paris in 1944, and Christian Ferras gave its London premiere under the direction of Gaston Poulet, in the presence of the composer, and made the world premiere recording on November 7, 1947, when he was aged only 14 a string quartet, and a piano concerto, premiered by Leopoldo Querol in 1947 in Paris; Elizalde himself played the piano concerto at Besançon with the Colonne Orchestra under Gaston Poulet, and again with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in the Albert Hall.

Pendant ce temps, il compose beaucoup, notamment : un opéra sur la vie de Paul Gauguin, sur un livret de Théophile Briant ; il diffusé en 1948 par la Radiodiffusion Française pour célébrer le centenaire de la naissance de Gauguin ; un concerto pour violon ; créé par Ginette Neveu à Paris en 1944, et par Christian Ferras à Londres, sous la direction de Gaston Poulet, en présence du compositeur, et a fait l'enregistrement en première mondiale le 7 novembre 1947, alors qu'il n'avait que quatorze ans ; un quatuor à cordes et un concerto pour piano, créé par Leopoldo Querol en 1947 à Paris ; Elizalde a joué lui-même le concerto à Besançon avec l'Orchestre Colonne sous la direction de Gaston Poulet et à nouveau avec l'Orchestre symphonique de Londres au Royal Albert Hall.
