If ocean circulation slows (as warming might induce) or carbon dioxide fertilization of the biosphere saturates (as may happen), much more of the emitted carbon dioxide would remain in the atmosphere. The rate of warming would further accelerate and the emission cutbacks required would need to be increased if dangerous anthropogenic interference is to be avoided
