The United Nations adopted the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) in 2002 with a goal of improving worker safety and simplifying global commerce by prescribing a set of rules that cover training, product labeling and safety documentation to identify chemicals and their safe handling methods in the workplace.
