The Inter-American Court of Human Rights had investigated the Barrios Altos case and ruled that the Peruvian State should use its internal machinery to correct the sentence handed down, since it was incompatible with the criteria established by the Inter-American Court and the Constitutional Court of Peru.

La Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos ha investigado el caso de Barrios Altos y ha dictaminado que el Estado del Perú debe aplicar su mecanismo nacional para modificar la pena impuesta, puesto que esta no se ajusta a los criterios establecidos por la Corte Interamericana y el Tribunal Constitucional del Perú.

La Cour interaméricaine des droits de l’homme a mené une enquête sur l’affaire de Barrios Altos et considéré que l’État péruvien devrait faire jouer ses mécanismes internes afin que la décision qui avait été rendue dans cette affaire soit modifiée, celle-ci étant incompatible avec les critères établis par la Cour interaméricaine des droits de l’homme et par la Cour constitutionnelle du Pérou.
