In paragraph 18 of the annex to its resolution 32/197 of 20 December 1977, on the conclusions and recommendations of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Restructuring of the Economic and Social Sectors of the United Nations System, the General Assembly decided that, in the light of its resolution 31/159, appropriate measures should be taken to enable UNCTAD, within available resources, effectively to play the major role envisaged in Conference resolution 90 (IV) as an organ of the Assembly for deliberation, negotiation, review and implementation in the field of international trade and related areas of international economic cooperation, bearing in mind the need to maintain its close and cooperative relationship with the Assembly and to cooperate with the Council in carrying out the Council’s responsibilities under the Charter.

En el párrafo 18 del anexo de su resolución 32/197 de 20 de diciembre de 1977, relativa a las conclusiones y recomendaciones del Comité ad hoc de la reestructuración de los sectores económico y social del sistema de las Naciones Unidas, la Asamblea General decidió que, habida cuenta de su resolución 31/159, deberían adoptarse medidas para que la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Comercio y Desarrollo, con los recursos disponibles, pudiera desempeñar eficazmente la función indicada en la resolución 90 (IV) de la Conferencia como órgano de la Asamblea con funciones de deliberación, negociación, examen y aplicación en la esfera del comercio internacional y en esferas conexas de la cooperación económica internacional, teniendo presente la necesidad de mantener una estrecha relación de colaboración con la Asamblea y de cooperar con el Consejo en el cumplimiento de las funciones que le confiere la Carta.

В пункте 18 приложения к своей резолюции 32/197 от 20 декабря 1977 года, касающегося выводов и рекомендаций Специального комитета по перестройке экономического и социального секторов системы Организации Объединенных Наций, Генеральная Ассамблея постановила, что в свете ее резолюции 31/159 должны быть приняты надлежащие меры, с тем чтобы ЮНКТАД могла, используя имеющиеся ресурсы, эффективно играть ту большую роль, о которой говорится в резолюции 90 (IV) Конференции, в качестве органа Ассамблеи для проведения дискуссий, переговоров и обзоров и для выполнения решений в области международной торговли и в смежных областях международного экономического сотрудничества, учитывая необходимость поддержания тесных отношений и сотрудничества с Ассамблеей и сотрудничества с Советом в осуществлении обязанностей Совета по Уставу.
