Bei folgenden Prachtfinkenarten wurde der Energieumsatz, die Körpertemperatur und die Wärmedurchgangszahl in Abhängigkeit zu verschiedenen Umgebungstemperaturen bestimmt, um eventuelle physiologische Adaptationen an ihren Lebensraum zu testen:Amadina fasciata (Bandfink),Estrilda melpoda (Orangebäckchen),Taeniopygia guttata (Zebrafink),Chloebia gouldiae (Gouldamadine),Padda oryzivora (Reisfink).

InAmadina fasciata, Estrilda melpoda, Taeniopygia guttata, Chloebia gouldiae, Padda oryzivora energy metabolism, body temperature and thermal conductance were measured versus different ambient temperatures to test possible physiological adaptations to their habitats.
