For centuries, the region was under the control of the Marquis of Saluzzo. An old legend, from the beginning of 1300, says that in the castle of the village, which became the residence of the Marchioness Isabella Doria, wife of the Marquis Manfred IV of Saluzzo, was held a banquet in honor of the Marchioness herself.
