On 31 May 2003 a group of UK researchers held a mass experiment, where they exposed some 700 people to music laced with soft 17 Hz sine waves played at a level described as "near the edge of hearing", produced by an extra-long-stroke subwoofer mounted two-thirds of the way from the end of a seven-meter-long plastic sewer pipe.

Il 31 maggio 2003, un team di ricercatori del Regno Unito ha effettuato un esperimento con il quale circa 700 persone sono state esposte a musica mescolata con suoni a forma d'onda sinusoidale di frequenza pari a 17 Hz, usata ad un livello sonoro "vicino alla soglia di udibilità", prodotta da woofer montati a due terzi del percorso dal termine di un tubo di plastica per fognatura della lunghezza di 7 metri.
