Bilbó csak a térképekről tudta, hogy ott fent, ahol a Göncölszekér csillagai már ragyogtak, a Sebes Folyó érkezett a Hosszú Tóba Suhatag felől, és az Erdei Folyóval együtt megtöltötték azt, ami régebben egy hatalmas, mély, sziklás völgy lehetett.
