The Purón River runs through this protected area, carving a stunningly deep gorge. This area is home to one of the most complete lists of rock-breeding birds in the Basque Country. It’s not uncommon to see the griffon vulture, Egyptian vulture, golden eagle, peregrine falcon, alpine swift and both the yellow-billed and the red-billed chough.

El río Purón atraviesa este Parque Natural excavando un profundo y hermoso desfiladero. Este escenario acoge uno de los muestrarios más complejos de aves rupícolas del País Vasco, entre las que se encuentran el buitre leonado, el alimoche, el águila real, el halcón peregrino, el vencejo real o las chovas piquigualda y piquirroja.
