Der erlösende Wert des Opfers Christi wird mit sehr bedeutungsvollen Worten vom Verfasser des Hebräerbriefes ausgedrückt, der an die Opfer des Alten Bundes erinnert, bei denen »das Blut von Böcken und Stieren... leiblich rein macht«, und dann hinzufügt: »Wieviel mehr wird das Blut Christi, der sich selbst kraft ewigen Geistes Gott als makelloses Opfer dargebracht hat, unser Gewissen von toten Werken reinigen, damit wir dem lebendigen Gott dienen?«

The redemptive value of Christ's sacrifice is expressed in very significant words by the author of the Letter to the Hebrews, who after recalling the sacrifices of the Old Covenant in which "the blood of goats and bulls..." purifies in "the flesh," adds: "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

Jézus áldozatának értékét a Zsidó levél szerzője igen jelentős szavakkal fogalmazza meg. Emlékeztet az Ószövetség áldozatára: „...a bakok és bikák vérére... mely külsőleg tisztává tesz”, azután hozzáfűzi: „...mennyivel inkább megtisztítja lelkiismeretünket a holt cselekedetektől Krisztus vére, aki az örök Lélek által saját magát adta tiszta áldozatul az Istennek, hogy az élő Istennek szolgáljunk?”[
