In 2011, the Popular Party government discontinued ahead of time the funding for the 2006-2012 Miner Plan which had enabled municipal councils in the Guadiato mining area (Belmez, Fuente Obejuna and Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo) to access aid from the general budget in compensation for the closure of coal mines.

En 2011, el Gobierno del PP cerró anticipadamente las partidas del Plan Miner 2006-2012 que posibilitaban a los municipios cordobeses de la comarca minera del Guadiato (Belmez, Fuente Obejuna y Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo) acceder a ayudas con cargo a los Presupuestos Generales del Estado, en compensación por el cese de la minería del carbón.
