Die dem Lösevorgang zugeordneten Wärmetönungen und Freien Enthalpien werden miteinander verglichen. Für beide Systeme ist unterhalb des Klärpunktes der Lösevorgang um rund 3000 cal stärker endotherm als im Gebiet der isotropen Schmelzen.

The corresponding heats of mixing are always about 3000 cal greater in the mesophases then in the isotropic melts, showing that the solution process in an anisotropic melt needs so much more energy. In the vicinity of the melting point the nematic melt of (4,4′-Di-ethoxyazoxybenzene) shows a good selectivity against the 3 isomers of Xylene.
