Jeg ved, at der stadig er store problemer, men jeg tror, at det er højst utænkeligt, at lande som Kina, selv om der egentlig ikke findes noget land som Kina, men at lande med en autoritær og undertrykkende regering som i Kina umuligt kan være vært for De Olympiske Lege, uden at det har en betydelig indvirkning på landets civile samfund.

Ich kenne die riesigen Probleme, aber für mich scheint es absolut undenkbar, dass ein Land wie China obwohl es ein ähnliches Land nicht gibt , aber dass ein Land mit einer ähnlich autoritären repressiven Regierung wie in China Olympische Spiele ausrichten kann, ohne dass das eine erhebliche Auswirkung auf die Entwicklung der Zivilgesellschaft in diesem Land hätte.

I know the appalling problems that exist, but it seems to me at the very least inconceivable that any country like China, although there is no country really like China, but any country with the sort of authoritarian repressive government that China has, would find it impossible to host the Olympic Games without that having a considerable impact on the development of civil society within that country.

Conozco los terribles problemas que existen, pero me parece como mínimo inconcebible que a un país como China, aunque en realidad no existe ningún país como China, o a cualquier país con un gobierno tan represivo y autoritario como el de China, pueda organizar unos Juegos Olímpicos sin que ello tenga repercusiones considerables sobre el desarrollo de la sociedad civil dentro del propio país.

Conosco i problemi spaventosi che esistono ma mi pare davvero inconcepibile che un paese come la Cina (anche se in realtà non esiste alcun paese davvero simile alla Cina) insomma un paese guidato da un governo autoritario e repressivo come quello cinese, possa ospitare i Giochi olimpici, senza che ciò abbia un notevole impatto sullo sviluppo della società civile all' interno del paese stesso.

Ik weet welke verschrikkelijke problemen er zijn. Toch lijkt het me op zijn minst voorstelbaar dat ieder land als China - alhoewel geen enkel land echt als China is -, of in ieder geval ieder land met het soort autoritaire, repressieve regering dat China heeft, zou merken dat het onmogelijk is om de Spelen te organiseren zonder dat dit een aanzienlijke invloed heeft op de ontwikkeling van de burgermaatschappij in dat land.
