As regards the Irish language, I would like to inform you that I have recently made a visit to Dublin, I have had the opportunity to discuss with the Irish authorities, at that moment and afterwards and I have insisted on the need for the broadest possible training of people capable to work, at Community level and not only, as translators or interpreters. This is an essential element in order to be able to ensure a completely equal position for the Irish language together with the other official languages of the Union.

Por lo que respecta al idioma irlandés, quisiera informarle de que recientemente visité Dublín, donde tuve oportunidad de debatir el tema con las autoridades irlandesas e insistí, en aquel momento y después, en la necesidad de proporcionar la formación más amplia posible a los ciudadanos capaces de trabajar como traductores e intérpretes, ya sea a escala comunitaria, o a otras; se trata de un elemento esencial con el fin de asegurar una posición de plena igualdad de la lengua irlandesa con el resto de lenguas oficiales de la Unión.
