In particular, two temptations can be cited which they have not always known how to avoid: the temptation of being so strongly interested in Church services and tasks that some fail to become actively engaged in their responsibilities in the professional, social, cultural and political world; and the temptation of legitimizing the unwarranted separation of faith from life, that is, a separation of the Gospel's acceptance from the actual living of the Gospel in various situations in the world.

Dans le concret, on peut rappeler deux tentations auxquelles ils n'ont pas toujours su échapper: la tentation de se consacrer avec un si vif intérêt aux services et aux tâches d'Eglise, qu'ils en arrivent parfois à se désengager pratiquement de leurs responsabilités spécifiques au plan professionnel, social, économique, culturel et politique; et, en sens inverse, la tentation de légitimer l'injustifiable séparation entre la foi et la vie, entre l'accueil de l'Evangile et l'action concrète dans les domaines temporels et terrestres les plus divers.

Wypada tu przypomnieć przede wszystkim dwie pokusy, którym świeccy nie zawsze umieli stawić czoła: pokusa tak wielkiego angażowania się w posługi i zadania kościelne, że prowadziło to często do zaniedbywania w praktyce specyficznych powinności na polu zawodowym, społecznym, gospodarczym, kulturalnym i politycznym, oraz pokusa usprawiedliwiania niedopuszczalnego oddzielania wiary od życia, przyjęcia Ewangelii od konkretnych działań w sferze różnego rodzaju rzeczywistości doczesnych i ziemskich.
