November 1579, mit dem der Kaiser auf Wunsch der Stadtvertreter das Wappen von Opava verbesserte und festlegte, dass „der Schild damit von oben direkt nach unten in der Mitte geteilt wird, die rechte Hälfte roter oder rubinroter, die linke Seite weißer oder silberner Farbe und in der linken Hälfte des gleichen Schildes mit drei Sparren roter oder rubinroter Farbe, abwechselnd mit den Spitzen nach unten gedreht und der letzte Teil der linken Seite desgleichen Schildes von oben nach unten weißer oder silberner Farbe“.

This is evidenced by a deed of Rudolph II on November 24, 1579, by which the Emperor improved the coat of arms at the request of the city’s representatives and established that it would be “a shield split directly in the middle from the top to the bottom, with a red or ruby right half and a white or silver left half, and in the left half of the same coat of arms there shall be three red or ruby chevrons, their pikes one by one pointing down and the rest of the left half of the same coat of arms shall be white or silver from the top to the bottom.”
