I'm going to begin this talk by addressing any members of this audience who might be on the autism spectrum. I want to let you know that what I am about to do [ is to ] support any members of this audience who are not autistic but are challenged with experiencing empathy for the conditions of others. That comment was only mildly sarcastic. For those of you who are neurotypical, non- autistic, typically developing, I want to invite you for a moment to imagine the following.
