وكان أمير كوبورا مساعدا لرئيس هيئة الأركان لشؤون العمليات والتوجيه المعنوي بالكتيبة المسلمة السابعة من الفيلق الثالث بجيش البوسنة والهرسك، وبالتالي رئيسا لأركان تلك الكتيبة، ويُدّعى قيامه بقيادة الكتيبة بالنيابة قبل تعيينه قائدا بديلا لها في 16 آذار/مارس 1994.

Amir Kubura was the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Instruction matters of the 7th Muslim Brigade of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina 3rd Corps, then the Chief of Staff of that Brigade; he is then alleged to have acted as a substitute commander of that Brigade, before being appointed its Commander on 16 March 1994.

Amir Kubura era el ayudante del jefe de operaciones e instrucción de la séptima brigada musulmana del tercer cuerpo del Ejército de Bosnia y Herzegovina y luego fue Jefe de Estado Mayor de la Brigada.
