Por último, recibido el orden episcopal del mismo papa junto con san Dionisio, que desde Grecia había ido a Roma, y con los demás hermanos que el mismo san Clemente enviaba a predicar a la Galia, llegó a Auxerre. Allí despidiendose con abrazos de divino amor y lacrimosos saludos, marchó san Dionisio con sus compañeros a la ciudad de París, y san Eutropio, volviendo a Saintes completamente animado a sufrir el martirio y lleno de cristiano celo, se fortaleció a sí mismo diciendo: “El señor es mi ayuda, no temeré lo que me haga el hombre”.
