In den 1950er Jahren wurde in der Bracka-Straße ein funktionalistisches Gebäude des Zentralen Kaufhauses (heute Kaufhaus Smyk) errichtet, sowie ein Orbis-Bürogebäude mit einem charakteristischen Neon in Form eines Globusses an der Ecke des Gebäudes und ein Bürogebäude, in dem sich bis 1990 das Hauptbüro für Presse-, Publikations- und Vorstellungskontrolle befand.
