Hence although all are included in the exhortation "to advance towards the perfect man, in the measure of the age of the fullness of Christ" (Ephes. iv., 3), it is addressed before all others to those who exercise the sacerdotal ministry; thus these are called another Christ, not merely by the communication of power but by reason of the imitation of His works, and they should therefore bear stamped upon themselves the image of Christ.

Aussi, quoique tous les fidèles doivent aspirer à "l'état d'homme parfait à la mesure de l'âge de la plénitude du Christ" (27), cette obligation appartient principalement à celui qui exerce le ministère sacerdotal. Pertanto, sebbene sia rivolta a tutti i fedeli l’esortazione affinché “arriviamo... allo stato di uomo perfetto nella misura che conviene alla piena maturità di Cristo” [27], tuttavia ciò riguarda soprattutto colui che esercita il sacerdozio; egli è quindi chiamato un “altro Cristo” non certo per la sola trasmissione del potere, ma anche per l’imitazione delle opere, attraverso le quali mostra in sé la chiara immagine di Cristo.
