أمّا أنصار النهج "الحيِّزي" فيلفتون الانتباه إلى الاختلافات الرئيسية بين النظامين القانونيين المنطبقين على الفضاء الخارجي والفضاء الجوي، وما يستتبعه ذلك، أولاً وقبل كل شيء، من حاجة إلى تعيين الحدود الحيِّزية وتقرير مدى انطباق مبدأ حرية استكشاف الفضاء الخارجي، من جانب، ومبدأ سيادة الدول على فضائها الجوي الوطني، من ناحية أخرى.
